Unaccustomed as I am to staying in five-star hotels…

…I think this hotel has quite the most stunning lobby I’ve ever seen. And I’ve seen at least, ooh, three posh hotel lobbies in my lifetime:

It could all have gone so horribly wrong… And yet the space, the lighting, the furniture, the design… it’s all wonderful:

(Yes, the bar comes in multiple colours.)

(Those three red flags are up for Chinese New Year.)

And the restaurant isn’t too shabby, either:

And as for the rooftop swimming pool, which I went to take a look at tonight… Well, put it this way: I don’t say “wow” out loud very often. In fact the last time I did so, I do believe it was when I first met The Love Of My Life. Clearly, the second love of my life is a swimming pool. Here’s an arty, ie. blurred, picture of it. I wasn’t about to fall in; it’s just that my camera can’t compensate for the lack of light:

    Wow…
You don’t need a pianist do you by any chance ?
I think I could cope with being there (just about)

  2. Andrea Says:

    I’ll ask.

  3. Charlotte Says:

Glad the hotel is to your liking. 5 Star is the very minimum you deserve Ms Mann. Hope you continue to settle in nicely.

Well, that looks like a pretty ok sort of place to be spending a couple of months. Irene and I are planning to go round the world but sadly not till this time next year - maybe you’ll be somewhere else on our itinerary! But we’ll be in London late April/early May for a few days so maybe we’ll find you in good voice there. Have a wonderful time and the hell with the humidity!

    Andrew

Wowee, lovely hotel and good photographs too. Love the black and white one of the cylindrical lightshades. When do you do your first gig Miss Andrea? Tess says hi. Simon is settling in. Muchos admiration for hitting the gym. Am thinking of installing one in my house, oh and a pool on the roof. xxx

    looks rubbish xxx

Think I might come over - remortgage the flat again???

  8. Andrea Says:

Charlotte - thank you. I fear that I may get far too used to this 5-star malarkey if I continue to swan about this place like Jennifer Lopez.

Andrew - thanks for swinging by! hope to get to see you when you’re in London.

Sarah - helloooo :-). my first gig is this Friday. give Tess a cuddle from me. good call on the rooftop pool - ’bout time we got one up on the people living in Honor Oak Mansions.

Mat - I think you should. although it’s surprisingly cheap to stay here. you can even get a facial for £12! imagine! mind you, that is an ‘Express’ one…

Ian - you’re right, it *is* rubbish. these are just photographs of photographs in a brochure. I’m actually staying at the backpackers’ hostel above a brothel, just down the road.
