Caught between a rock and shifting plates

So, there’s been an earthquake in Britain.

And a tsunami warning in Indonesia.

At first, I was slightly anxious about going to Jakarta when I finish here. But now it appears that it’s not safe to go home, either.

Perhaps I should just stay on this little island, holed up in my hotel room?

yes, it was very weird. I feel really excited to have been in an earthquake, one of things I can tick off the list of things to do before you die (preferably not in an earthquake).

blimey, did it affect the *whole* of Britain, then? my friend S felt it in London!

PS tsunami vs earthquake. it’s like Natural Disasters Top Trumps.

    It even came to Macclesfield!
Almost like a very large wagon going down the main road outside.
I was talking on the phone at the time whereas I guess most people would have been in bed and got woken up by the shaking (12:53 AM).

true… only my truly rock ‘n’ roll friends will have felt it :-)

“been in bed and got woken up by the shaking”.. isn’t that what happens in TV shows, when someone thinks there’s a burglar downstairs?

    I slept through it.

I was in sheffield so only inches from the epicentre. Well, 60 miles or something. Though when I woke I thought I was in Oxford and had a very srange feeling of dislocation for quite a while. I asked K what was going on but at the time she was in bed 150 miles away.

I slept throught it but then I also slept through a big ole earthquake in NZ a couple of years ago, My sister scarpered and left me there - the cow!
